From the Beautiful Wasatch Mountains.....Welcome to Flying Beads Homepage

Just one of the stunning pieces handcrafted by Kathy

I grew up in the pristine mountains of Park City, Utah. I spent my winters skiing, and my summers exploring the Anasazi cliff dwellings in Southern Utah, ranging from Moab, to Bryce Canyon, from Zions to the Escalante Area. Climbing 1000's of feet to explore their cliff dwellings, I imagined how these Native Americans lived.

This contributed to my knowledge of the the Anasazi People, who primarily lived in the four corners area, in the Southern part of the United States. The Anasazi people lived around 1500 AD, and disappeared around 1540 AD. Their disappearance is widely thought, due to a 25 year drought, which virtually wiped out the clans, leaving little of their existence. The Azasazi people have decended to what we know today as the peublo native Americans.

Each Necklace that has been hand woven. I use over 2800 glass beads in each piece. The patterns are inspired by the Native American Azasazi people (the ancient ones). I use only sterling silver clasps, and silver caps which are hand made. While weaving each Necklace I think about the Anasazi people and the red rock country that they l dwelled in Southern Utah. I also worked at a local art gallery in Park City, which inspired the artistic side of myself, As you may know artists are crazy people to hang out with!

Prices ranges in the $50.00 to $300.00 market. Depending on size and asperity of the work.
